Pricing is based on the size of your quilt and the density of the quilting pattern. I have many patterns to choose from, and I'm happy to make suggestions.
If you have questions, or you are just not sure about something please don’t hesitate to contact me. I want you to be confident about the finished product, and am happy to answer any of your questions.
For example, assume your quilt top is 60" x 80" and you have chosen an average sized design.
Quilting cost: 60" x 80" = 4800 square inches x $0.03 = $144.00
Quilting cost (dense pattern): 60" x 80" = 4800 square inches x $0.06 =$ 288.00
Minimum charge: $60.00 (batting, thread, needle and any additional services are extra)
I use Glide Thread by Fil-Tec, and I keep a variety of colours in stock. It is a 40wt, has a bit of a sheen and produces a nice stitch quality.
I currently stock Hobbs 80/20 Cotton/Polyester and Tender Touch 50/50 Bamboo/Cotton and 100% Cotton (white). As many of you would be aware, fabric and batting have been in short supply lately. Your first choice may not always be available.
If you provide your own, please make sure it is a total of 10" longer and wider than the quilt top. If quilt top is 60" x 80" the batting needs to be 70" x 90". If batting is bigger than 10" wider (longer is ok) then it needs to be trimmed to the correct size otherwise a $15 service charge will be applied.
Please do not layer your quilt top, batting and backing together. They are loaded on the machine separately.
Binding can be applied to the quilt front by machine.
Example: Linear inches are calculated by adding all four sides together (60"+60"+80"+80" = 280" x $0.15 = $42.00 or 280" x $0.25 = $70.00)
A handmade quilt is a comforting addition to any home, and is a wonderful gift. I have a large inventory of patterns, both traditional and modern. It would be my pleasure to work with you to find the perfect design.
Total cost really depends on the type of fabric chosen (solids are less expensive) and pattern (number of pieces in the chosen design). Approximate cost of a baby-size quilt is $300, and a queen-size is $1,200. Let me know your budget and I will provide options.
Payment in full is due when you pick up your quilt. Payment can be made by cash, or e-transfer to info@thequiltfox.com.
HST is added to the final cost of all services.
I wish to do my very best work on your quilt. In order to ensure the highest quality and satisfaction of the completed quilt, please use the following guidelines:
Reinforce seams around the edge of your quilt to ensure they don’t pull apart in the loading and quilting process. I recommend a stay stitch inside the ¼ inch mark which will be hidden in your binding.
Press the quilt top and backing.
For best results, quilt top & backing must be square. It cannot be properly loaded if it’s not square.
Measure your quilt, both length and width and note on a piece of paper safety pinned to the top of your quilt. If the backing of your quilt is directional, please also put a safety pin at the top.
Please make sure that all your seams are secure and that stray threads are clipped and picked off the front and back of the quilt top. Unclipped threads can show through lighter fabrics.
Fullness and puckers within a border cannot be quilted out. I will try my best to work in any fullness but cannot guarantee that pleats and puckers will not be sewn in. Remember, the flatter your quilt top lays the better your finished quilt will look.
Your backing must be at least 5″ larger than the quilt top on the top, bottom and both sides. If the quilt top is 60” x 80” the backing needs to be a 70” x 90”. Longer is always better. This is required for me to load your quilt properly to the frame. Additional fees will be charged if I have to add additional yardage to make the backing large enough to load. This fee will start at $30 to cover the time and additional yardage that will need to be added to the backing.
If you need to piece your backing, remove the selvage, then stitch with a ½ inch seam. Press the seam open.
Trim the edges of the backing so that it is straight and square, this ensures that the backing will be loaded square on the machine and that the quilting design will be straight.
I also recommend bringing the quilt and backing to me neatly folded on a clothes hanger. This minimizes wrinkling between your pressing and delivery to me. Drapery hangers (have a thick cardboard roller on them) from the dry cleaners are excellent for this.
